Sports and me
I have a very historical past with sports; all my life I have constantly been involved in some sport or the other. It all started way back during the wee age of preschool or so when I joined a co-ed soccer team with my brother. Even though I was only about four or five at the time, pushing over boys never felt so good. From that point, I knew that I was simply a sporty girl. During my continued grade school years, I remained always involved in a co-ed soccer league (much to my delight), and I picked up basketball and track in the fifth grade. Since I was the tallest girl and boy of my grade school until 8th grade graduation (what can i say i was a beast), basketball came quite naturally to me. I cooperated with it and it cooperated with me. And during this time of team sports, I remained quite an avid down-hill skiier (I first started when I was three!) and snowboarder which I picked up in the seventh grade (along with many gruesome injuries). So me and sports really started our relationship way back in the day. High school only intensified my passion for sports, and I was not afraid to try everything. This included two years of basketball and track, four years of cross country, one year of soccer, and one year of downhill ski racing. I loved it all. All I needed was a women’s football team and I would have been perfectly satisfied. But anyways it was also during those high school years in which my job became involved in sports. And from this day forward, I am very proud to say that I was a Milwaukee Bucks Team Attendant, and yes that means ball girl. Even though my duties may not have seemed that important (rebounding for the players, giving them their towels and gatorade on the bench, wiping the sweat from their chairs after time outs, etc, etc,) I absolutely loved this job. It also didn’t hurt that I was also always surrounded by studly NBA players….rich and muscular, but that’s beside the point. It was at moments such as when Carmello Anthony held the door open for me, or Lebron James playfully tossed his warm-ups at me that I knew I had found my calling in the world of sport’s careers. In fact, today I even start my new job at Niketown right on Michigan Ave. Supposedly there are famous athletes that come in there every single day, so as you can imagine, I am very excited. And presently, my involvement with sports is still living successfully on. I have recently joined my college’s flag football team (finally I get to play some football), cross country club, and ultimate frisbee team. In addition I hope to train for an up-coming 1/2 marathon since I also forgot to mention that I completed all 13.1 miles of hell last May. But what can i say, i loved every step of it. So that is just a little history of me and my favorite friend, sports. We have a wonderful past and an even brighter future together in the many years to come.
